Of course it is the job of systemd! Any program creating temporary files should destroy them when they finish. Having a cronjob deleting them is a hack for careless programming.
Yup...it's having to hire a janitor to come in and clean your mess.

Note: systemd does not honor obsolete sysconfig variables in /etc/sysconfig/cron such as TMP_DIRS_TO_CLEAR. ···································++-
---- Oh lovely. No deprecation period, no advance notice -- just "obsolete"... that what I love about these new updates... All done covertly for maximal screwage... Just came across and fixed another /etc/init.d/rc had been deleted and overwritten with a link to /etc/init.d/boot. Amazing the amount of work being done to try to force people on to the new system. I'll have to package all the workaround and neutering of systemd if I get that far. Maybe let it run chrooted....in its own namespace... Neutering is a very attractive idea when I think of systemd... and some of it's proponents...*sigh*...way too much testosterone in the design decisions around here: total domination: my way and no other.
