This is the first failed DVD upgrade I get since 1998 :-/
I don't even know why.
<http://paste.opensuse.org/7824651> <http://paste.opensuse.org/84936112> Thanks for being the "canary in the coal-mine" Carlos. Drop a link when you get the bug written. Sure.
<https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1096960> Well, it has been solved as duplicate of bug 1094963, which although solved means that it is impossible to upgrade to 15.0 (or install fresh and import partitions) on machines that have encrypted partitions. Which means all of my machines. Good grief :-/
When I tested the 15.0 Betas the import feature was not ready, so I could not test it. It was added very late in the process. And it is buggy.
Another bug is that it may select all partitions for formatting, even /home, which of course destroys all your data.
:-/ Well, I got information on private mail that since L42.3 YaST can update itself while the DVD is loading, so that these type of bugs have less impact and do not require reissuing the installation ISO.

«Starting on version 3.1.175, yast2-installation is able to update itself during system installation. This feature will help to solve problems with the installation even after the media has been released. Check FATE#319716 for a more in-depth rationale.»
WOW! That would be a most fantastic trick to perform indeed when there is no connection to the internet -- ie, when the Cat 6 cable from the router is not plugged into the laptop and there is no wi-fi connection :-).
Well, obviously :-) But remember that during the Beta phase, installing XFCE was impossible without fast Internet, because it was not included on the DVD. Anyway, the autoupdate feature is not available on openSUSE. YaST is capable, but intentionally there is no server with updated data for this particular feature. I also don't have confirmation if the Netinstall image, which has to download yast, gets an updated yast or not. One rationale for "not" is that only the "not updated" got the full testing of betas. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.3 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)
