I use Kmail exclusively for email. About a year ago I used Spamassassin to get rid of spam but it was so slow that I gave up and uninstalled it.
i previously had the same problem (some years ago), where SA was so slow that i ended up disabling it. A few months ago i re-enabled Spamassassin and found that it works much more quickly than before (or, more correctly, the kmail integration works much more quickly).
Now the spam is overwhelming. So I tried bogofilter in Kmail. I trained it with several thousand messages, both ham & spam. Worked pretty well for a couple of weeks but now it is putting everything into my Spam folder that should go into my inbox except the mailing lists I have told it not to check.
i'm using both Bogo and SA to detect spam. IMO, Bogo marks *way* too many things as spam. e.g., mails from my father and brother typically are bogofiltered as 95%+ spam.
Would appreciate your thoughts, experiences, advice, whatever, in your use of bogofilter.
Try enabling both SA and bogo, and see if that helps. i still get a lot of false positives, but my inbox is significantly cleaner than it was before enabling them. -- ----- stephan@s11n.net http://s11n.net "...pleasure is a grace and is not obedient to the commands of the will." -- Alan W. Watts
