Any views, please ? ~ How dangerous is it to Plug/Un-Plug Mouse & Keyboard, while System is up & Running ?
To avoid damage to Motherboard, should one always turn OFF ones 'puter, first ?

I guess the big question would be how long do you want your computer to work? ;o) PS/2 plugs/adapters were not meant to be "hot plugged" like USB. You might be able to get by with a time or two, but you take the chance of hurting something when you do. Don't take the chance, power down the computer first, unless you have one of multiple switch boxes and can switch off the active units. Then that too may not be completely safe, if the correct lines are not disabled in the switch box. Best rule of thumb to follow is power down first. A minute or two for a fresh boot is a lot less expensive than a new peripheral or mobo to me anyway! Patrick --- KMail v1.4.3 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.1 --- Registered Linux User #225206
