scanner.h for Epson 640U, vendor and product id's

Hi. Have just changed the file scanner.h (in /usr/src/linux/drivers/usb/) to include the Epson 640U scanner which I got the vendor and product id's from /proc. How do I recompile, install and run for these changes to take effect? Is it to reinstall the modules? Thanks, Steve. -- SuSE Linux 7.0
