When you untar the kernel you will find mountains of documentation, including a file called Changes which will tell you all the things you need to update. Gerry Doris wrote:
I noticed that SuSE have posted a 2.2.3 kernel tarball on their website. As there don't seem to be any instructions perhaps someone can help me out...
1. is this kernel any different from the "standard" 2.2.3 kernel? In other words, does SuSE modify the kernel for use on their OS?
2. the SuSE 6.0 box says that it is 2.2 ready but shipped with 2.0.36. Is this really true or are there other packages that still need to be upgraded to run the 2.2.3 kernel? If so, is there a list somewhere?
3. Redhat has posted an upgrade HowTo (with dire warnings about upgrading). Is there some similar howto or instructions available for SuSE?
Thanks, Gerry
