Hi
Well Franklin thanks a lot! Everything is working fine now!
Just to recap here's what I did: * made sure both the CD-rom and the CD-writer were unmounted * su'd to root * created a backup of /etc/lilo.conf cp /etc/lilo.conf /etc/lilo.conf.20030317 * edited /etc/lilo.conf with Emacs added 'hdc=ide-scsi' to the append line of the entry I use to boot * ran lilo * cd to /dev/ * ln -sf /dev/sr0 /dev/cdrom * ln -sf /dev/sr1 /dev/cdrecorder * exit (to return to regular user) * logout and reboot
I can mount data-CD's with both the CD-rom and the CD-writer, the CD-writer is still accessible by Xcdroast, Yast2 can still install new software from the CD-rom and mount /media/cdrom mounts the CD-rom and mount /media/cdrecorder mounts the CD-writer!
It's almost a perfect world!
Thanks Glad it all works, but since you didn't use the hdc=ide-cd there was no reason to edit lilo. Both drives are scsi even though hdd=ide-scsi was the only one
