All, This is one issue I would like somebody to confirm on the next 13.1 install. (*automatic configuration UNCHECKED*). When you get to printer configuration, the default is to load the foomatic and gs printer drivers, but not automatically install the hplip package. (this is smart, many of the foomatic postscript drivers are more feature rich than the hplip set) However, what I got to this point and used the Connection Wizard to locate and test my CUPS ipp Laserjet4, there were *no* printers available in the printer selection list. I tried several times with multiple search criteria to get the list to display *anything* but no matter what I did, no printers would display in the printer selection list. I have installed with foomatic postscript drivers many, many and know for a fact that the Laserjet 4 driver exists in that package. But despite a number of searches nothing would display. I mean nothing, not a single enter in the printer selection list for any manufacturer at all. So I finally relented and installed the hplip package and went back through the Connection Wizard process to locate/test the connection to my CUPS ipp Laserjet4. Then magically *all* printer drivers appeared in the printer selection list. Including the *foomatic postscript, gs and hplip* drivers. So somewhere in the printer config dialog there is a bug that prevents the printer selection list from displaying printers from the foomatic package until the hplip package is installed. Once the hplip package installed the printer config/test print process completed successfully (using the foomatic driver). I need somebody to test/confirm this issue on their next install. *NOTE:* my install was done using manual configuration (unchecked the auto-configuration box at the beginning). I do a traditional install, with traditional root account (basically you flip all the default checks so I receive system mail, I don't use an admin account, and no auto-login) If this issue can be duplicated. I'll file the bug, but I want to make sure it wasn't some one-off event. -- David C.
