I wasn't. Now I added myself to the group: lutz@linux:~ $ cat /etc/group | grep audio audio:x:17:lutz lutz@linux:~ $ groups users dialout audio video but the machine still doesn't make a sound. Also, if I login as root in kdm, there is still no sound.
