Either as a strategy or as a comparison, what happens if instead of kwrite, and I presume you're dealing with plain text, you try using VIM, or in its graphical form, 'gvim' == /usr/bin/gvim Just curious to see if the problem is with the editor or the way you are accessing the file. I'm not clear from your description if you are editing the file in the file system "behind" the web server or going "through" the web server to access it.
