I have SUSE 9.1 installed on my Dell Latitude D600 laptop and have just installed on my desktop as well. On my laptop, I used apt (which, in turn, referenced the latest sources.list from http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/). Apache 2 and PHP4 were working well on the laptop *unitl* my 'apt-get dist-upgrade'. Now I can get apache started on the laptop but it will not view PHP files (it tries to download).. Now to the newly installed desktop. I'm at the same critical juncture with this box. Apache2 and PHP play well together, but in order to upgrade the packages on my system, I fear I may lose the apache/PHP love-fest. Specifically, here is the confusing message that I'm sure is the source of the original problem: Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done Calculating Upgrade... Failed The following packages have unmet dependencies: mod_php4-apache2: Obsoletes: apache2-mod_php4 but 4.3.4-43.4 is to be installed E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages. It appears that mod_php4-apache2 and apache2-mod_php4 are in conflict, but I'm not sure of the best way to address this without breaking the apache2/PHP relationship again. Looking for some pointers as to what to do. Thanks. Trey
