Chris, You will need to turn the files into .wav files (or Red Book files for that matter) in order to burn them down to a CD for play in an ordinary CD player. I haven't found a tool in Linux that will do this automatically, but I use mpg123 with sox. The command line is the following: mpg123 -b 10000 -s "source.mp3" | sox -t raw -r 44100 -s -w -c2 - "output.wav" I guess that you could add this to a bash script or so and then use it to batch convert a slew of files on the fly. Then you can use cdrecord to burn the disc. You should be in good shape... ============================================ Drew J. Is there a way to burn mp3's to a cd so that they can play on any cd player like an audio cd does?

'Nero Burning ROM' allows to convert and burn mp3 files into cda files in one go if you select the CD Audio icon. You can make an image, i.e. if you want to burn files from one or more sources. http://www.nero.com You can then play them on any cd player. However, use CD-R. RW may not work. Also, you will not be able to burn the same amount of music converted to cda as when they are mp3 because mp3 files are compressed. However, I use the windows version of Nero Burning Rom. I am not sure if there is a version for Linux. Their techn. help is a disaster and their english looks very funny sometimes. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq and the archives at http://lists.suse.com
