I have been using a PS/2 KVM switch with Linux for several years. One problem is that the mouse will go all wonky¹ when switched between systems. This is a known problem with Linux (though not Windows or OS/2), but it apparently doesn't happen with switched USB mouse. Does anyone know if adapters such as this correct the problem? http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1388863&CatId=469
The problem, as I understand it, is that PS/2 devices are not intended to be switched, but USB devices are.
1. Please excuse the technical term. ;-)
tnx jk
I ran a KVM switch for years between a Linux computer and a windows computer. I never had any issues switching. Now I just use different monitor inputs and individual keyboards and mice.I have dual monitor and can have one on each computer or both on the same computer just by choosing the input for each monitor.
Likewise. I have a _mechanical_ KVM switch and used it for many years between a couple of Linux machines and a Windows machine. There never was any problem switching the ps/2 mouse and keyboard between the Linux machines. Occasionally the Windows machine was uncooperative and needed a mouse or keyboard plugged in directly. For a while. Then it worked with the KVM. For a while. Thankfully my need for the Windows machine is very rare. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
