On my Dell P4 system, when I choose, logout from the K menu to restart or shutdown the computer, my computer gets to the "green screen with startup logger messages" but refuses to proceed to shutdown. Its only when I hit return couple of time...may be some spaces a couple of time is when the computer proceeds to shutdown and says "sending all processes the TERM signal". Otherwise it tends to stay there for a long time....I once left it there for an hour and it didn't shutdown....I then hit <ENTER> on my keyboard once and it started to shutdown. For as long as the computer is "hung", the message on teh screen says something about "KDEINIT". So I think I may be experiencing the same problem. I am running 8.0, KDE 3.0.3 (SuSE RPMS). The problem existed right from my 8.0 DVD. Very annoying and no work around so far. I think you are right...its a KDE problem. Salman
