I've got this new machine based on Kaby Lake chipset: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 620 (rev 02)
but after an installation of Tumbleweed I feel the graphic performace is quite poor. (Just guessing it's graphics though because the CPU should be quite capable and the system is not loaded much.)
I notice quite unsteady animations or under Gnome shell and also smooth scrolling in Firefox is not always quite smooth. My 4-5 year old predecessor (Intel graphics based as well) machine was feeling snappier with Leap.
So I'm wondering if anyone has a pointer to tuning proposals for that sort of machine under Tumbleweed?
really no Kabylake users who solved those presumably ?graphics? performance issues.
My multiboot Kaby Lake 2 core 630 has spent most of its time since burn-in powered down, waiting on https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1010880 and https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1074024 to get fixed. Maybe it doesn't matter, as I never use Gnome, sticking to TDE and KDE3 mostly, sampling Plasma only occasionally. 1074024 is the only video issue I've noticed, which doesn't happen on TW. Meanwhile, GTK3 SeaMonkey 2.49.1 running only browser and CZ windows has presented my 42.3/KDE3 Haswell with MLK like never experienced with GTK2. Before, I could leave it open several weeks. Now, more than 4-5 days is too much. :-( -- "Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Whatever else you get, get wisdom." Proverbs 4:7 (New Living Translation) Team OS/2 ** Reg.
