I use a Logitech Mouseman+. It has a wheel like the intellimouse. If I choose the mouseman+ driver in xfsetup it breaks my mouse completely. I use the std ps/2 driver and it works perfect as a 3 button mouse. I hope the next xfree supports the wheel, cause I've gotten really fond of it from using it in win95. I tried following the instructions as seen on slashdot about getting the wheel to function in x, but as soon as I changed mouse drivers it broke my mouse. Oh well, soon all mice will have the wheel, so support can't be too far off... For those of you snickering about my love of the little wheel, you'll see why I like it so much after you use one for a few days. They rock. Steven T. Hatton wrote:
Michael,
Thanks for the reply. I learned something new about libraries from this. One day I need to sit down and actually learn the theory behind all this stuff. I didn't mess with the library files other than to look at them though. The problem seems to be related to XF86 and the intellimouse. I found that running XF86Setup and changing the color depth fixed the problem temporarily. It would then come back after a while. The intellimouse has always been a little flaky. I am now back to a standard M$ mouse. I will give this a try for a while. It will probably be the solution. I'm not sure why, but this wheeled mouse just doesn't work with XF86. It causes some of the strangest problems.
