I read the Init 1 and Init 2, but was unclear about the difference between the two choices. You will have to pardon the dumb question.
Actually, the main thing is that when you do "init 1" you unload the network support and "init 2" reloads the network support. If you view the file /etc/inittab, you will find a very good quick definition of the various levels..... runlevel 0 is halt runlevel S is single-user runlevel 1 is multi-user without network runlevel 2 is multi-user with network runlevel 3 is multi-user with network and xdm runlevel 6 is reboot That is why, when you change something in your network, you need to change to runlevel 1 to unload the software, and then change back to runlevel 2 to reinitialize the system for the changes that you made:-) cya l8r Leon McClatchey leonmcclatchey@homemail.com --------------50D2714ADA7FB86D8DC54588 Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit <HTML> Roy Keeley wrote: <BLOCKQUOTE TYPE=CITE>I read the Init 1 and Init 2, but was unclear about the difference between the two choices.
