Hallo again! I managed to install refind through an old osx and then with refind i managed to install oS 13.2 but when i everytime i start the laptop the entry of oS is shown in refind. When i select it a black screen is coming say: "No bootable device found…insert a bottable…". And: When i insert the Install-DVD while the laptop is booting i reach at first the menu of the install-dvd. When i then select "Boot from harddisk" everyhing works fine and grub2 is loaded and oS ist working like a charm… I think it has to do with the bootmanager (refind) and the bootloader of oS. I also tried the follwoing: created a folder "Opensuse" in the /sda1/EFI/efi/ and put in there the vmlinuz… kernel and the corresponding intird… this lead to the result that the bootoption has shown up in the refind menue buzt when i select it the process hangs up. I also tried to rename the kernel with .efi ending. I also tried to enable efistub but i don know how to do this… Help is appreciated ;) Thanks, Benjamin. Ps.: Thanks Simon for your good advice! Hi Benjamin,
have you got refind installed? Especially on older Macs there's no way around overwriting your EFI-firmware. You find the download and an instruction here: http://www.rodsbooks.com/refind/ After having installed refind, you can easily boot from a DVD, install opensuse and GRUB and then have a choice what you want to boot during the startup of your computer.
Read the instructions carefully. I don't know what happens if you have Win installed via Bootcamp. You might run into some trouble and you better be safe than sorry :).
Regards! Simon

Hi Guys! I have a problem with the installation of Opensuse on a Macbook 2.1 (the white one with the black spot to the right). I tried o whole lot of different methods install oS but nothing seems to work. I tried to insert the dvd, some live cds also via usb and i tried also to make an seperat partition in the internal hdd on which a put the installation iso with dd command. But nothing seems to help, the installation media is not even detected by the startup manager of the macbook. I'm sorry to ask here because too I'm not a friend of apple ;) but anyway…The only thing i managed to do is the follwoing Question: I installed Windows XP which i had on an old cd. From win xp i tried to install oS 13.2 via the installer. In the bootmenu i can see the 13.2. installer but when i select it, i get an error concerning the harddisk. The Error Message is simply, that there is something rotten with the harddiskconfiguration. Then the black screen appears and the system hangs. I know that it is quite special stuff because the Laptop is from the year 2006 but maybe someone knows o word about that…Thanks.
Best, Benjamin.
Ps.: I also tried it with the 12.2 dvd. But the same error occurs. Pss.: Beside Win XP i also managed to start gparted via a live-Cd…helpful that stuff!
