I do most of my production work on external drives from the command line so having to jump to dolphin is a pain. Especially if I'm using a terminal console (cntrl-alt-f2, etc.) istr that you can set specific drives to automagically mount when attached. You can also immediately after attaching the drive: demsg |tail |grep sd mount -t auto <result-from-above> /<choice-location>
or simply add device by lable/id to /etc/fstab
