I haven't tried either of these programs. I've been using xwd to get screen dumps, and have had no difficulties. The image generated by xwd can be converted by gimp to jpg, gif or some other more common format. Run: xwd -out myScreenCapture.xwd The cursor will change to a cross-hairs pattern. Click inside the window you want to capture, or on the desktop, outside of any window if you want the whole screen. Alan G. Eichner wrote:
I've tried several times (both as a user and root) to perform a "screen grab." I tried xgrabsc and xgrab. xgrabsc (when used without any parameters or options) gave a "Segmentation fault" error msg. xgrab brought up it's "dialogue" box, and none of the choices that I tried (probably about 20 different combos, all supposed to print to a *.dmp file) brought a *.dmp into existence.
Am I missing something simple here, or are these programs not quite ready for prime time? I've not done anything in the way of serious upgrading of SuSE.
Any help is appreciated.
