Hi, Right I go a new 'up to date' machine, SuSE 7.1 installed like a dream, all hardware was recognised first time including the USB card. So I decided to have another attempt to move my Alcatel USB ASDL Modem from my Windows workstation to this new machine. I have been trying to follow the how to at... http://www.linuxdude.co.uk/docs/Alcatel-Speedtouch-USB-mini-HOWTO/speedtouch usb.html ..and I am stumbling at the first step... It says... "Patching the kernel.. Test the pppoatm-1 patch: patch -p1 -s -E --dry-run < /path/to/pppoatm-1 If this command produces any output then something is wrong with your 2.4.2 kernel source tree. Please fix it before continuing." Well I get screens and screens of error messages, so I suppose I must fix my broken kernel source tree (is the default 2.4 kernel from SuSE in 7.1) How do I find out what's wrong? has anyone has got their Alcatel USB ASDL Modem under SuSE? Cheers Phil
