Doug just released version 5.0.15 of the driver which should address exactly this kind of problem. I just created a bootdisk with this driver. It should be available at ftp.suse.com:/pub/suse_update/suse52/disks/scsi01 in some hours (when you awake ;-), so please give it a try.
If nothing helps, I've put a bootdisk with the old driver (version 4.1.1) on the ftp server (file scsi01.old). But please note that this is only an intermittent solution because the new driver already is in 2.0.34-pre15 and in 2.1.102.
Thanks for all this Hubert... I've found scsi.old , and this enabled me to boot the system. I've managed to upgrade the system to 5.2 using this, but as I had today off work, I did some further investigating: It seems that the CDRom drive is the problem. I have been trying to use a JVC XRW-2010 CD R/W drive which worked fine as a reader under SuSE 5.1. Changing this for an old Sony CDU 8003 (Apple CD300), and the new kernel boots just fine! I'm working away from the computer for a while.... I'll try the new driver with the JVC drive when I get back. Thanks for all the help so far.... -- Cheers!
