Hey Michael:
Diamond Viper 770d video card (32mb) or the Z200 Diamond Viper (32mb)
If this is an nVIDIA card, how did you get it to work? I believe I have the same one in my Dell. I had to get the drivers nvidia.rpm and nv_glx.rpm from the SuSE update site to make it function. Still the 3D screensavers in KDE won't work with it and the 3D drawing functions in StarOffice won't work. This is no big loss but I am just curious if you are configuring something that I did not. I added the "glx" line to my XF86Config file also.
Hi- There is an accelerated option for the card in X4. I don't use packages for X4 and usually just do the precompiled binaries. Under X3, I use the svga driver. I get full color at 1024x768 easily on the card with X4. I have not recompiled the drivers for SuSE 7 yet so am just using the standard svga drivers. Even with those, the card seems to work quite well here. The other card I have some experience with is a bit harder to find these days. That would be the Matrox G200 card. I like the two diamond cards better all in all. <p> -- Michael Perry mperry@tsoft.com ------------------
