Ok this is probably simple. I don't use sendmail externaly. I have the smtp port closed, but I do use it localy of course for cron messages etc. I have a dhcp connection to the net and I don't have a real hostname from my ISP. I more or less make it up. I get errors like the following: Jan 6 23:26:21 cain sendmail[16041]: gethostbyaddr(208.61.xxx.xxx) failed: 1 I added the xxx for privacy of course.
