Hi. We are running a webserver through 256k adsl on a PII 300 with 128Mb RAM. At certain peak times, our visitors get timeout messages. From /var/log/httpd it seems to happen when requests are very close to each other. Anything more frequent than one request a minute seems to produce the timeout. Is there anything I can tweak Apache with or is this time to upgrade the hardware. If so, what do I buy first, bandwidth, ram or WHY. SuSE 8.0 apt-gett'd yesterday.
Well you could try increasing the Timeout variable in /etc/httpd/httpd.conf. It defaults to 300 seconds(5minutes). It won't cost anything to try. :-) -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
