Hello all. I have been having fits with trying to get my SBLive 5.1 card to recognize my external keyboard. I have been scouring the web and googling my brain out. I have come to the conclusion that despite the hype around this card, it's midi capabilities (at least for external keyboards) suxors big time. >: {
So, can you guys recommend a sound card with a convention joystick port midi adapter that actually works? I would very much appreciate any advice.
I think the SBLive is the easiest card to setup, almost all the docs now use it as the default example. I remember my keyboard worked fine with the SBLive joystick port, and it works even better with a USB midi-cable. You must have some configuration problem with the joystick port?, I don't think it's a SBLive problem. Maybe the joystick module isn't loading, or you don't have it built in to your kernal?
Or it could be the keyboard. Its a fairly cheap casio that has general midi ports. I have had the joystick mods loaded, unload, manually, and at boot. I give it a try. Maybe I need to consider a different keyboard - it wouldn't surprise me. I'm moving back to San Diego and have friends that run a very large music store. I could probably get a good deal on a keyboard. Any recommendations on that end? Thanks Zentara, Curtis. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2-rc1-SuSE (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/BGERiqnGhdjCOJsRArtNAJ4kmQEGgBBJSfb2K3I5LlyhBIJ6hgCfQA8q X3aEksFbYsV0ZU8BjGQ7fdw= =VsdY -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
