I confirm, update repository unusable.
I was trying to demo Linux to a new guy from the Networking, he was very enthusiastic.
He gave me a laptop to install. I put Leap on it.
1. I get graphics artefacts. Put nomodeset in boot loader. 2. Networking does not get set up properly. I start it up manually with ifconfig, route and /etc/resolv.conf. 3. Update repository does not work.
All this time, every guy in the office is looking on and they start making fun of this Linux. I will never hear the end of it after this.
Was this a "demonstration effect" or is it SUSE just plain SUCKING.
I like SUSE, I've been using it for more than 10 years now, but it keeps betraying me every now and then. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
-----Ursprüngliche Nachricht Ende----- Well, as this was Leap: if you get artefacts depend a lot on the graphic-cards chipset. There are some trouble with nvidia. The responsibility goes to nvidia (and their oss policy).
Network should set up properly, if it is connected during install via ethernet in all case. What problem did you get? The update repo is a casual thing. I cannot recall when the last time the update repo did not work. opensuse does permit normally to solve a whole lot of issues with the integration of update repos on boot time. You have to select this on install. As for SUCKING: it depends. If you need a good BJ I cannot exclude that, if you invest a substantial sum of money, somebody may do you a favor. But you will have to ask kindly one by one and people may get very much offended. For sure AFAIK we do not offer virtual oral service right now on our repos. You could propose that as a feature but I tend to be pessimistic for it going through. I would therefore advice to use traditional channels for that matter.
