Hi Paul, * Paul W. Abrahams <abrahams@acm.org> [30-01-04 04:26]:
I have a Palm Zire and I've been trying to use the Linux programs kpilot and jpilot with it. The results have been disappointing:
1. Kpilot consistently fails when trying to sync the datebook database, though it syncs the address database.
2. Jpilot is very inconsistent about recognizing the connection. It sometimes does and sometimes doesn't.
Just managed to use my wife's Zire21. jpilot seems to have a better success rate than kpilot for sync'ing the databases. I'm too lazy to sort out kpilot. Seems the most reliable connecting method is to plug in the palm, turn it on and sync it, then start jpilot and hit sync and all should be fine. It's the sync on the palm that allows hotplug to "pick up" the palm, not just turning it on. I assume that because you have generally got it running that you either have a /dev/pilot device, or a sym link to /dev/usb/ttyUSB01 (or 00, depends on the palm type). FYI, I am running 8.2 pro. Trust this is of some use. -- Regards, Roland Hill Registered Linux User #330226 http://pl.net/~rnrhill/rhweb.htm @ http://counter.li.org
