Hello again to the SuSE list. Well, I finally did it--upgraded from 5.2 with kernel 2.0.36 to 6.3/2.2.13. Now I've got three questions that aren't addressed in the SuSE manual, AFAIK: 1. 'mount' shows a mysterious "devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,gid=5,mode=0620)". What's that all about. 2. What on earth is that NSCD that I've disabled? I've read 'man nscd', but it doesn't help. I use a PPP dialup connection, and rely on my ISP's nameservers, BTW. 3. Same puzzlement re that 'identd' daemon that started on each tty. What would it do for me?
