Tried what you suggested. No sound - zilch, NADA - but a damn good picture as before.
So then the little grey cells start to get agitated. What would happen if I right-clicked on the picture? would I get a menu? YES, I do get a menu.
What does that little menu show? It asks me if I want to save the picture/video to my HD. I do that.
And then vlc plays the video - *with sound* :-) .
