Thanks for the information. The results where what I expected. Where does "hwinfo" gets its information from anyway? Mark "Rafael E. Herrera" wrote:

what is being reported yet but I guess my question is, do I have to reinstall 8.1? Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.
No, I've swapped mother boards on my computer going from an Intel CPU, to an Athlon processor with minimal hasle.
What I suggest you do is install the Athlon specific kernel k_athlon.rpm in your machine.
Linux hardly uses the BIOS, so whatever it says will usually be ignored by Linux.
Who knows what hwinfo is doing at this point, it may be reading its old info files and not enquiring the hardware directly. To see the cpu info run this command:
cat /proc/cpuinfo
