I have been working on getting my laptop with Windows 2000 and Desktop with Suse8 to share files through samba. I have been configuring samba through webmin and thought I may be done, but I cannot find my linux machine in the Network Places in Windows 2000. I can ping from my desktop to the laptop. What do I need to do to get my Windows 2000 to see my Linux machine? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
If all else fails, try mapping a network drive on the laptop to samba using the IP number of the SuSE box: i.e. try first mapping to \\fully.qualified.domain.name\username then if that doesn't work, try the IP address \\192.168.0.1\username -- JDL
