Yes this is what I'm going to do. To be honest I think I need to do a bit more reading. Then back to it on Tuesday. In fact I might even go back to reinstalling Linux.
That wouldn't be a bad idea. In fact, I installed Linux from different distros several times on my machine, just to get to know the process and to play with the offerings out there before I settled on SuSE. A couple of times, will working as root, I messed my machine up (programmers are never afraid of their machine... if it breaks it breaks... it's only a machine and life is an experience, live it!) a couple of times and had

to reinstall. That's how you learn. If you buy a machine with Linux already pre-installed you will never know the fun of installing Linux and fine-tuning your box!
one question:- Are there settings in the card which I may need to change? If so how do I do this? if not got dos on my Linux box (it's a single OS box) just Linux SuSe 6.2
Those NICs come with a setup program on a DOS utility disk. If you have a bootable DOS disk then you can switch to the utility program and check both of your cards out and change them so they aren't setting on the same IRQ and base address. If you need a bootable DOS diskette let me know and I will email your a 1.44MB image that can be written (not copied) to the floppy to create one. Jerry
