After installing the standard 2.0.33 kernel source from the SuSE 5.2 CDROM, I found that there wasn't any Epic 100 driver which I need for my SMC EtherPower II network card. I ended up downloading the whole SuSE 2.0.35 kernel source and installing that intead.
The epic100 driver is part of the official original 2.0.35
First Impressions:
The newer aic7xxx driver in the 2.0.35 kernel initializes my AHA2940UW card much quicker making the whole bootup process noticeably faster.
