I wonder if you have a local problem. I have rsyslog-5.10.0-2.4.1.x86_64 and do not see truncated entries in /var/log/messages ??? Well, there are now two people with the same problem, so I don't think so. However, I repeatedly installed the old version of rsyslog and the new one, and it was consistent: the new one failed with the same configuration. If there is some new needed setting that should be enabled on the new version, they should say so somewhere, I suppose.
* Carlos E. R. <robin.listas@telefonica.net> [10-03-12 07:46]: then possibly a locale problem. I have LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8.
I noticed "it appears" the same chars are dropped from similar looking log entries ????
Hi Patrick, I use the same locale. Here is mine: bunyip:~ # locale LANG=POSIX LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 LC_NUMERIC="POSIX" LC_TIME="POSIX" LC_COLLATE="POSIX" LC_MONETARY="POSIX" LC_MESSAGES="POSIX" LC_PAPER="POSIX" LC_NAME="POSIX" LC_ADDRESS="POSIX" LC_TELEPHONE="POSIX" LC_MEASUREMENT="POSIX" LC_IDENTIFICATION="POSIX" LC_ALL= I wonder what other parameter or other changes between rsyslog-5.10.0-2.4.1.x86_64 and rsyslog-5.8.5-6.4.1.x86_64. I tried the following: rsyslog-5.8.5-6.4.1.x86_64 (no truncation in logs) updated to rsyslog-5.8.11-2.1.3.x86_64 (no truncation in logs) updated to rsyslog-5.10.0-2.4.1.x86_64 (truncation!! as per previous emails) If I re-install rsyslog-5.8.5 or 5.8.11 the truncation goes away - it is very consistent, not sure if this means anything or helps identify the problem! Best regards. Otto. PS: Hmm...both are production systems so they are never re-booted. I wonder if I reboot the system whether the problem goes away???? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
