A few things to be aware of: Hardware: your Mainboard / Graphikcard and your Monitor needs either HDMI 2.0 or Displayport 1.3 to "have fun" at 60Hz. Lower versions bring more trouble than the reduced price is worth. Do NOT spare at the cable, full connection cables are worth their money. Software: For discrete Graphics and AMD-APUs, you will have to experiment with the Graphik drivers. AMD brought in a new AMDGPU driver into the kernel in 4.1.x, Noveau will bring the next bigger step in 4.2 at earliest. Than means properiary drivers for full functions, with all the pittfalls (Kernel / Distro upgrade). Consult some Gamer-Hardware magazines and blogs. Most of them do good tests, even beyond just gameing. Latest does not mean or garant greatest. If you have the money, also invest in HDR (beyond 8bit RGB) at the same time (12 bit is nice, 16 bit is wow). A good monitor with swivel, height and possible pivot is well worth the 20-30 bucks extra for such a adjustable stand. For the discrete cards, keep an eye on idle power consumtion, this is a good indicatior for the invested "love" on detail when designing the card.
