Hi kiddies, I finally get back home, and find a lovely new box of Suse 9.3 on my doorstep.. Yummm... SO after sleeping the clock round a few times ( gotta recover from trip, after all ;-) ) I open the box, and plunk ( plop?) the disk into the test bed.. install is easy peasy, and config not much harder.. hmmmm this could be an easy change... Well, not so fast there Ms. Smiley Face... put into my personal box, and tried to set it up like my old version w/ the newer toys., bells whistles etc.. and that took a tad bit longer. largely because I made the major error of trying to do it BEFORE I logged in as a user.. that left everything "owned"by ROOT, not good... Once I realized that, and took back my files things went much faster.. and all in all I LOOOOOOOVE IT!!!!!!! I´m still trying to figure out the new KMail stuff.. it hated my old settings... and I can not convince it to change the toolbars to add send mail to list... I had it there before but no it wants a key combo??? and it ate the gmail settings, And it is insisting on putting the passwords in the wallet system. Probably a good idea, but I don´t have time to play w/ it just now so I´ll have to mess w/ it some more later. Still, a really good effort one and all ... General ease of install has to be considered a plus. Not too sure about upgrading tho, it looks like quite a few things have been moved to /usr/local/share which is certainly a logical place to put that stuff, but it wasn´t really there before, so that might cause a few headaches .. on an upgrade...... or not.. who knows, no? Big Ups to all you guy and gals who worked on or tested it out of the box, except for my own dumb silliness it seems just lovely and I think the new get pictures for the desktop is a pretty good idea.. at least it will keep me from being bored too much once I get all the installs and upgrades done here :-)
