Ah, that's just the problem :-) <rant> Info pages are an invention of the devil, as far as I'm concerned. In the SuSE 5.2 (English) distro, the pages are strewn with distracting editorial asides ("This shouldn't be here in the final copy") and organized into painfully tortured sections connected by "pseudo- hyperlinks." If one already knows; e.g., tar, backward and forward maybe the info pages will call some vaguely-remembered option to mind, but for actually learning to use the command, forget it. I (for one) learn linearly, so the 'man' pages were ideal. If only we weren't so web obsessed. Sigh. </rant> OK, purists, flame away. Howard Arons PS.
