The second is that you have Zypper set up to download ALL of the 800+ RPMs before installing any. This is a setting in /etc/zypp/zypp/zypp.conf I avoid you situation since I have this set to DownLoadAsNeeded. The 'default' is not smart; it ends up as DownloadInAdvance
A very interesting discussion. Found the proposed setting interesting, the setting of " DownLoadAsNeeded" in the config " /etc/zypp/zypp/zypp.conf" but to my amazement I do not have that a /etc/zypp/zypp/ directory. What are my possibilities to get a complete zypp setup?
Apologies. My Typo ... stuttering ..
That should be: /etc/zypp/zypp.conf # ls -l /etc/zypp/zypp.conf -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 19217 Aug 1 2017 /etc/zypp/zypp.conf
And hmm, I'm surprised you couldn't find it it with a
find /etc -name 'zypp.conf' -print
Some things become reflex to more experienced CLI users. They end up doing
locate 'zypp.conf'
But then again, you can have a lot of fun with 'find', feeding its output into other like like 'awk' ....
