Hi, Group: Some very basic information about installing SuSE 7.2 rpm packages from the included CDs has escaped my understanding. My problem is, that the expected behavior just doesn't happen. I'm expecting to be able to put one of the included CDs in the CD-ROM drive, launch kpackage or Yast2 or (from thecommand line), the rpm program, specify the desired package, and be prompted to enter the search path, including the device, if it's on a CD - a la Caldera, RedHat, etc. I just can't seem to make this happen. The "Configuration" manual and the "Reference" manual don't help, and the book "Maximum RPM" yields nothing that matches the SuSE environment, within the constraints of this particular issue. I want to install the kdepim package, but just as important, I want the capability, and the know-how to install other packages as well, from the CDs that came with the distro. BTW, kpackage froze when I highlighted "kdepim" and clicked "apply" to install it. Can anyone help? -- Glenn Williams - n0hn@abq-nm.com Registered Linux User # 135678 Powered by SuSE 7.2
