CD-ROMs and ZIP-Drives don't eject until you unmount the device. For your Zip that is... 0mount /zip If you hit the eject button before you invoke umount nothing happens. But if you unmount the Zip after pushing the eject button the disk ejects automatically. I don't have an ATAPI ZIP, mine is SCSI external (one of the first drives that were available here in Japan, about 2 1/2 years old) but that should make no difference.
