Would someone please tell me if this has errors and what do I do about them.
David, by now you have seen what ."Carlos E. R." wrote on Sat, 5 Apr 2003 6:42 EST in reply to your earlier post, namely:
Executing /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.susewm... RM: cannot remove `/etc/X11/susewm/kde_tmp_dir_old/Settings/YaST/notinstalled/Graphics/Viewer/pixieplus-kde.desktop': Permission denied
I assume you are "root" when running this. If you are, check that that file does exist, and try to delete it manually. If you can't, it is possible you have a corrupted filesystem, and you need to repair it. If it is a reiserfs, it has been comented on this list a few times.
Gar, What led up to this is trying to upgrade my kernel in 8.0 to the latest one on apt. After doing this with synaptic and doing mk_initrd and lilo I rebooted to find that I could not get into kde or gnome because of dependacy problems, trying to download the individual rpms I kept getting more dependacies. so I did a apt-get -f install and upgraded my packages. Kde now works and so far most of my apps work, not all. So this is where I am at. The output of locate pixie plus is> dbtrol@linux:~> locate pixieplus
/etc/opt/gnome/SuSE/notinstalled/Graphics/Viewer/pixieplus-kde-PixiePlus_Image_Manager.desktop /etc/opt/gnome/SuSE/notinstalled/Graphics/Viewer/pixieplus-kde.desktop /etc/opt/kde3/share/applnk/SuSE/Settings/YaST/notinstalled/Graphics/Viewer/pixieplus-kde-PixiePlus_Image_Manager.desktop /etc/opt/kde3/share/applnk/SuSE/Settings/YaST/notinstalled/Graphics/Viewer/pixieplus-kde.desktop /etc/X11/susewm/kde_tmp_dir/Graphics/Viewer/pixieplus-kde-PixiePlus_Image_Manager.desktop /etc/X11/susewm/kde_tmp_dir/Graphics/Viewer/pixieplus-kde.desktop /etc/X11/susewm/kde_tmp_dir_old/Settings/YaST/notinstalled/Graphics/Viewer/pixieplus-kde.desktop /usr/share/doc/susehilf/raw_pacs/en/pixieplus-kde dbtrol@linux:~> When I go to the /etc/X11/susewm/kde................/Viewer the file is empty, yet when I try rmdir I get the following> linux:/home/dbtrol # rmdir /etc/X11/susewm/kde_tmp_dir_old/Settings/YaST/notinstalled/Graphics/Viewer rmdir: `/etc/X11/susewm/kde_tmp_dir_old/Settings/YaST/notinstalled/Graphics/Viewer': Directory not empty linux:/home/dbtrol #
So I am confused. David -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.1 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQE+j9Ny3VVncqMjOZsRApcyAJ9PAD9ggmG5EDxX6A1xW28Cp7t4pACdFAxL SkpKeZc7dP+hwkBIbDqDZrU= =aNYJ -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
