on everything. My assumption is that I've done something nasty with regard to NIS or NIS+. However, I don't have anything installed.
I did hit the NIS Yast tool by accident yesterday and when it asked me to install the NIS packages I realized what I did wrong and backed off.
If you backed off before installing it then it /shouldn't/ be that, but YaST may have dumbly written out some default or place-holder settings. Check for the existance and contents of /etc/defaultdomain /etc/hosts and /etc/HOSTNAME
All of these are accurate except for defaultdomain, it's empty However, I narrowed it down to this: nodename = 3(NXDOMAIN) according to 'uname -n' But that would require NIS or yp-bind. Neither of which are running.
