C) I noticed that some things that built fine under SuSE 5.2 didn't build under SuSE 5.2g. This was consistent with my brief RedHat 5.0 experience (Donnie, you know I don't mean that as an assault on RedHat, so don't get bent ;) ). I am not discounting operator error by any means, but regardless, I feel that glibc DOES choke on some source code that doesn't pose problems for libc5.
Note that there are some differences.
