I use a humble 166 MHz Vectra with 160MB memory. Under 7.1 it took a minute or so to logon KDE2 Now it takes 5 or more minutes. Yes observing 'top" shows it is starting all sorts of (uneccesary) processes such as "knotify" (which I do not use) etc. etc.
I've noticed no discernable difference between SuSE 7.1 and 7.2. I have a modest (by today's standards) BX PII 500 system with 384MB - guess we're looking at 10-15 seconds after logging in. Want to try Windows 2000 Pro?
Maybe I should try "enlightenment" .. !
But that is not the biggest problem, 7.2 is so full of bugs I cannot believe it has been released. I counted 10 in the first few hours of use some of which are quite serious... I will not be installing it anywhere else.
Hope you reported them so they can get fixed. I must say that 7.2 is by far the most complete version to date and was worth the upgrade. Anyone want my old 6.1 and 6.4 box sets? M
