Well, the speed of your processor is not in question. I've found that - on occasion - adding 10.1 sources has left the system in the "finish" stage for over an hour. This has happened on two machines.
I guess other have said this already, but please switch to something like Smart, until they fix the current rug/zmd utils/platform. The current "broken" package manager updates the source files everytime you access any of the rug/zmd, update, software manager modules.
Yes, now that I've got smart working, I can see my laptop happily downloading and installing some sixty odd updates. It appears several of them are the .i686 versions, which means they'll probably be faster.
