Use YaST->Sucurity and users->Firewall to temporarily disable the firewall and see if that fixes the problem. Be sure "Start-Up" is selected on the left and then use the button that says "Stop firewall now".
Oho, so that does not fix the problem. So it's probably not a problem with the firewall. What do I do now? Back in Windows too sometimes I used to have this problem, like when Internet Explorer wouldn't download a file at full speed and my download manager would - meaning that all apps don't access the net correctly/properly.
Take a look at /var/log/messages for suspicious entries at the time of failure.
