Listmates,
Just thought I would pass along the fact that I got compiz working on my laptop with the radeonhd driver and it works rather well. (slower in rotate and window resize, but other than that -- great)
The solution was I needed to copy a working ~/.config/compiz directory over to my new install before compiz would work. Before that, it would look like compiz was trying to start, but then you would be left without window decorations and without any way to move or resize windows.
From Wil on the compiz list, the suggestion was made to start compiz and then start ccsm to begin configuring compiz to get it to work. I just took the shortcut of copying my old config. Either was, if you find yourself in this situation, give one of these solutions a try.
I have tried this and get this when I start compiz: compiz (core) - Fatal: Root visual is not a double buffered GL visual compiz (core) - Error: Failed to manage screen: 0 compiz (core) - Fatal: No manageable screens found on display :0.0 Perhaps my compiz config files are not correct? But I cannot see what they could do to make my display have some feature. Where to look?
