Maura, I like to start lyx from a terminal; thus I can see the error messages in full, and know what it is really happening. I've just tried to save my Lyx created file in "pdf" format. Ther result is that Lyx refuses to perform this translation and states there are 3 errors I have to fix ...

How can I find them ???

Moreover, I've used the "Del" mathematical symbol for inficating "Divergence" and the rotated "Del" to indicate "Gradient". These symbols come from Lyx Mathematical palette. However, they are not displayed rather what shows up is a sort of meta-language defnition ... I'm afraid they will not be printed out or translated into "pdf" format.
