gmail defaults to your email address and the cc's to the list. I do TRY to make sure that I don't send a reply to the OP, and generally don't even notice if someone sends to me AND the list because gmail only shows me 1 copy. So sorry I am not perfect. If you know a way to change that, then enlighten me, because I haven't found a way.
You mean that you have no control over your *chosen* email client's functionality? I use gmail and *I* tell gmail who and where to send *any* post that I make and it is simple. I use my chosen email client, mutt, and a gmail "From:" address and relay the outgoing mail thru my provider. That way I see my own posts on the list and have control over what and where I send *anything*. Linux is about choice and control over your *own* machine.
